St. Vincent Legion of Mary in Blantyre last week held a revival seminar to awaken members to actively participate in spreading the gospel as Catholics were observing ‘the year of faith’.

Legion of Mary, which caters for both men and women believers, is one of the most important lay institutions in the Catholic Church whose aim is to proclaim the word of God.

In an interview with Nation on Sunday, one of the facilitators, Chrissy Khumbanyiwa, said the purpose of the revival was to share skills and experiences that would enable members in their call to spread the gospel.

Khumbanyiwa, who is president of St. Louis de Montfort Parish, otherwise known as Catholic Institute, said the seminar also offered an opportunity to members to iron out issues affecting the legion.

“As we are approaching the year of faith, the Legion of Mary needs to spell out its roles and responsibilities. This revival seminar aims at identifying our areas of expertise and see how best we can utilise them in proclaiming the gospel of the Lord,” she said.
