Lilongwe Rotary Club takes Christmas to orphans
Lilongwe Rotary Club on Saturday gave an early Christmas treat to orphans and vulnerable children at Children of the Nations Centre in Chitipi, Lilongwe.
Speaking to the children and other guests at the centre, the club’s president Robert Chikuse said they visited the children to inspire them..
He said: “We are a group of individuals that have a heart to serve society. So, every year we ensure that we run various projects in sectors, including health, education and environment.
“We wanted to inspire you that there is more to life than what you are experiencing. I can assure you that most of the people you see in front of you come from different backgrounds and it is the heart to continue going forward that has propelled them to success.”
On his part, Rotary Club District Governor Tom Kamwendo expressed gratitude to Lilongwe Rotary Club for its various interventions that are making society better.
“I congratulate the club for the good work and ensuring that our children are happy in this Christmas season. This reminds us that Christmas is a season of happiness for all of us,” he said.
Children of the Nations director of programmes Pike Kaminyoghe thanked Lilongwe Rotary Club for the treat, saying every festive season the children look forward to the event.
“We thank you for making this an annual gift. Every year in December we anticipate and look forward to Lilongwe Rotary Club visit,” he said
