Liverpool can win City title
Liverpool can deliver the title into Man City’s hands if they beat Manchester United on Sunday and if City win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
With five games left and 15 points to play for, City only need six points to win the league. This is because City (77) are 10 points above second-placed contenders, Manchester United.
This again means United need to beat Liverpool to delay City from winning the title this week. City could be delayed again next week because they play against tough opponents in Chelsea and results could go either way.
However, after next week, City could be crowned champions unless they lose four matches which is unlikely given the list of remaining fixtures against Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Brighton and Everton.
On the other hand, United’s remaining matches after Sunday’s fixture are against Liverpool, Aston Villa, Leicester, Fulham and Wolves. For United to win the title, they need to win all these matches and pray Man City lose all their matches which cannot happen.
Man United are currently in hot form given their emphatic 6-2 win against AS Roma. Liverpool on the other hand, are fighting for a top-four finish. They, too, have easy opponents in Southampton, West Brom, Burnley and Crystal Palace despite their inconsistency this season.
It was also pleasing to note that Virgil van Dijk posted his training pictures, something that has excited the Liverpool fans.
Chelsea, who are also chasing a top-four finish, will play against Fulham this week. They are yet to play against Man City, Arsenal, Leicester City twice, including the FA Cup and Aston Villa. They have tough opponents, but given the form in which they are, they can win all the matches and finish in the top four.
Leicester, too, have tough fixtures after Southampton whom they played yesterday. They play Newcastle, Manchester United, Chelsea twice then Tottenham. This means any slip up could end their top-four hopes.
Congratulations to all Premier League teams involved in Europe for their strong appearance. Both Chelsea and Man City came off the front door in their semi-final first leg matches at the expense of Real Madrid and PSG. Man United, too, trounced Roma 6-2 while Arsenal have an away goal despite losing 2-1 against Villareal.
