The Arsenal UK-Malawi group’s coordinator Tiyese Kaimila said the Christmas lunch was aimed at celebrating the day with the under-privileged children.

“Our group, which comprises Malawian Arsenal supporters based in Malawi, United Kingdom [UK], Qatar and Germany, contributed something towards this initiative as a way of celebrating Christmas with some under-privileged children. As you know, Christmas is the time of giving,” he said.

The school’s director Grace Maliza-Gausi thanked the ‘Gunners’ for the support.

“We are very thankful to the group for this initiative as it has been a while since we had such assistance. We are happy that our children are able to celebrate Christmas in a special way,” she said.

Maliza-Gausi urged well-wishers to contribute towards the re-construction of a classroom block and toilets that collapsed recently at the school which has learners from Mbayani, Che-Mussa and Chirimba townships.

This is the second time the 50-member group has been involved in charity. In March last year, they donated cash and assorted food items worth K369 000 to then ailing Malawi Queens legend Emma Mzagada, who died this  year.
