A contingent of foreign artist expected to perform at this year’s Lake of Stars (LoS) festival will start arriving in the country tomorrow, organisers have said.

LoS country coordinator Yolanda Ng’oma said all preparations for the staging of the 15th arts and cultural festival are on track and festival-goers should brace for three days of endless fun.

Major Lazer are this year’s headliners

“The preparations are going on well. Being in the final week of the production we are basically fine-tuning the programme and setting up the site. Everything as regards the staging of the festival is ready,” she said.

Almost 30 acts billed to perform at the festival have been drawn from outside Malawi  with some coming from as far Europe and others from within Africa. The  organisers have said all these, along with all other local acts, have confirmed their participation at the festival.

Ng’oma said: “Announcements of acts are never made till we have confirmations of their attendance and contracts have been signed. So unless something happens beyond the control of both parties, the list of artists we announced will be there.”

This year, the festival will have two main stages, the Hivos stage and the TNM beach stage where most of the performances will take place. Other activities will include skating lessons and a fashion show to be run by the Mzuzu Fashion Week (MFW).

Meanwhile, one of LoS partners this year, TNM has announced names of five lucky winners of tickets to the festival courtesy of a social media competition the company has been running.

Speaking during the tickets presentation in Blantyre, TNM’s Limbani Nsapato said the promotion received an overwhelming response from the fans and TNM was excited to offer the five tickets to lucky winners.

He said: “TNM has decided to extend the Lake of Stars Festival buzz and fever to its customers on social media as one way of appreciating their love of music and tourism, which the festival delivers on one platform.”

Apart from giving out free tickets, TNM is also offering a 13.5 percent ticket discount to the festival for customers who buy tickets through TNM’s mobile money service Mpamba by September 27 2018.

The lucky winners are Justin Mwanja, Grant Victor, Danny DaSilva, Karen Tembo and Manuel Joze Serafim Da Silva. n
