Christian theatre group the Parables on Sunday afternoon premiered their play Lost Salt at the Blantyre Cultural Centre ampitheatre to an enthusiastic audience.

It was evident that the audience enjoyed itself as they gave the nine-member cast a standing ovation at the end of the play and refused to move.

The play, the third for the Parables, focuses on challenges that Christians face in work-places. Written by Bayana Chunga, the play uses humour, seriousness and practical theology to discuss some controversial and yet pertinent issues in the workplace.

When Dr. Goliati (played by Clement Nkhoma) turns a successful company into a personal estate, everyone gets concerned. When office politics collide with Christian principles one thing has to give. Would you fight injustice at the expense of your career? Those were questions that the employees had to ask themselves especially with the fact that the Bible teaches that Christians must be the salt of the world.

Using everyday office stories and traditions, Lost Salt reveals some of the deep challenges that a 21st century Malawian Christian faces when Christian ethics are put to test in a secular workplace.

The play started on time and within 1 hour 30 minutes the performance was over.
