Lunzu Secondary School in Blantyre has been closed indefinitely following a fracas that led to torching and breaking of school property on Monday night.

Confirming the news with Nation Online, the school’s board chairperson, Stanley Daudi, said the move was inevitable.

Part of the damage

“The tension within the school has been intense since yesterday [Monday]. There has been extensive damage done on various infrastructure at the school including the school and staff houses. Perhaps the break will do all the relevant stakeholders some good,” said Daudi who claimed teams were still on the ground to evaluate the damage.

During the fracas, which was between Form Four and Form Two students, one learner was injured and was treated as an outpatient at Mlambe Mission Hospital.
