LWB assures Water Users of improved water pressure

Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) chief executive officer (CEO) Alfonso Chikuni has assured water users associations (WUAs) in Lilongwe that problems of low water pressure will soon come to an end.

Chikuni made the assurance during awards presentation ceremony for best WUAs that the Board has laid out plans to construct water tanks in all Kiosks to solve the problem of low water pressure.

“We already have plans to construct water tanks in all Kiosks as a backup mechanism so you don’t have to worry about low water pressure anymore,” said Chikuni.

Lilongwe WUA Network chairperson Bentry Nkhata said some Areas within the city are heavily affected by low water pressure a situation which puts them in desperate situation forcing them to rely on poor water sources sometimes.

“Some Areas such as Area 24, Mlodza in Area 23, Area 25 and Area 49 are heavily affected by low water pressure and this has in some cases resulted in people relying on unsafe water sources,” said Nkhata.

During the awards ceremony, Kauma WUA emerged first and got a trophy and K2 million, Malili came second and got K1 million while Area 50 came third and got K500, 000 prizes.
