Bold printed to be part of the SA Fashion Week next month Fashion Malawi Edition (Fame) official will attend the South Africa Fashion Week next month, as it gears up for its first ever fashion week in summer.

After the KIA Fame 2012, the organisers announced plans to hold a fashion week this year as a sign of growth through the three years of holding one day successful fashion show events. Fame will, therefore, from August 28 to September 2 hold the fashion week at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.

“As part of our preparations for the big event, Fame team will from April 10-15 attend the SA Fashion Week in Johannesburg to learn more from our colleagues who have been holding such events for a long time now,” Fame creative director and co-founder Zilanie Nyundo said.

“We want to know what it takes to hold a fashion week in a country where couture trends are just growing. In essence, our participation which is upon the invitation of Paledi Segapo, of the South Africa’s designers who took part in Fame 2012, is for mentoring purposes,” added Nyundo.

Other than the fashion week, the Fame team will also grace a design indaba in Cape Town.

Said Nyundo: “The conference is Africa’s most dynamic sourcing event.”
