Malawi Parliament disowns Facebook page

Malawi Parliament has denied knowledge of a Malawi Parliament Facebook account which has been in existence since 2011.

The page describes itself as a Malawi Government organisation, but both Minister of Information and Civic Education Moses Kunkuyu and Parliament spokesperson Leonard Mengezi have disowned the social media page.

But the page has a Malawi Government Coat of Arms as a profile photo. Its cover photo is the New Parliament Building in Lilongwe.

“We don’t have a facebook account. This is our official position. Of course, we have a website that we are working on,” said Mengezi in an interview on Wednesday.

Kunkuyu also denied that the account is facilitated by Malawi government.
