Mighty Wanderers FC president Thom Mpinganjira has rewarded the players and coaches with about K45 million for winning the 2025 TNM Super League title.

The players have received K1 million each, coach Bob Mpinganjira has pocketed K1.5 million, his assistants got  K1.25 million each while the rest of the backroom staff also got K1 million each.

Confirming the development in an interview yesterday, the business mogul and philanthropist said: “This is a bonus for winning the league. It is a token of appreciation for a job well-done.”

In a separate interview, the club’s director of football David Kanyenda hailed Mpinganjira for the gesture.

He said: “You must understand why we revere our esteemed president so much.

“No amount of words can fully express the gratitude for all the resources he has placed at the club’s disposal

“Never in the history of the club did any sponsor do so much for the club in such a short span of time.”

Kanyenda said apart from the title bonus, the players and technical staff also received December salaries and standard win game bonuses for beating Moyale Barracks FC 6-0, a result that sealed the title after their arch-rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets were held to a goalless draw by Mighty Tigers.

“The December expenditure in wages and bonuses should be in excess of K100 million,” said Kanyenda.

“This excludes recurring expenditures for game preparation such as food, dietary supplements and travel allowances, among other sundries.”

Mpinganjira, who is the club’s main sponsor, also rewarded the players and coaches with an average of K1.5 million each for beating Bullets thrice this season.

Those who featured in the first round match, which they won 1-0, got K500 000 each and K750 000 each for the 3-0 second-round victory.

They also got K500 000 each for beating their arch-rivals 1-0 in the semi-final of the FDH Bank Cup.

He also pumped in K500 million for the team’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Nomads won the league last week with a game to spare, ending their eight-year title drought.

They have 68 points going into their last match against Kamuzu Barracks FC this afternoon, having won 20, drawn eight and lost once.

They will get K100 million as their prize for winning the title from sponsors TNM plc.
