Mini-Olympic Games wind up

The inaugural three-day mini-Olympic Games ends today at Civo Stadium where six disciplines are showcasing their skills, hoping to better their records and sway Commonwealth Games selectors.

The Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) will use the games to measure up for the next Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games in England and Brazil in 2014 and 2016 respectively.

The Athletics Association of Malawi (AAM) is represented by a contingent of 26 athletes, 18 of whom are drawn from the Central Region led by Grevazio Mpani.

Familiar faces at the event include Gervazio Mpani, Chancy Master, Harry Sichali, Memory Ziba, Golden Gunde and Francis Khanje.

Judo Association of Malawi, too, sent a strong party comprising Davie Mamba, Pilirani Masamba, Martin Muwawa and Shadreck Mkwepu.

Boxing and netball also had a strong legion of up-and-coming boxers displaying their skills.
