Minister hails Magomero graduates as key to human capital growth
Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Jean Sendeza, has commended the 314 graduates from Magomero Community Development College for their dedication to improving the lives of Malawian children and vulnerable communities. She described them as key partners in driving Malawi’s human capital development agenda.
The graduates completed various programmes, including Diplomas in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Community Development, Social Work, Nutrition and Home Management, and Adult Education. Others earned Certificates in Social Work, Farm Tractor Operations, and Irrigation Systems.

During the graduation ceremony held on Thursday, Minister Sendeza applauded the students who others benefited from scholarship programmes funded by the World Bank, UNESCO, USAID, and the British Council. She emphasised the importance of their work in complementing government efforts.
“We expect you to deliver integrated early childhood development services, protect vulnerable children, and contribute to national development. Your roles are essential not only to national policy goals but also to broader regional initiatives such as the African Union’s Agenda 2063,” she said.
Sendeza also recognised the graduates’ critical role in strengthening community initiatives such as nutrition education in Community-Based Childcare Centres (CBCCs) and schools, caregiver support, and child protection services. The Minister urged them to enhance community-level programmes, including care groups and school meal schemes.
“I urge all of you to serve with dedication and professionalism. The country is counting on you,” she added.
Principal of Magomero Community Development College, Thokozani Mtapawonga, described the graduation as a landmark achievement for the college and an important step towards Malawi’s long-term development vision.
She stated: “This ceremony marks not only the completion of your training but also the start of your service to the nation as passionate and skilled professionals. We take pride in your contribution to Malawi’s Agenda 2063.”
Mtapawonga further emphasised that the graduates are well-equipped to make a meaningful impact in sectors that directly support community development.
