Ministry lauds partnersin healthcare sector

Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daud says partnership between government and non-governmental organisations is crucial in the delivery of healthcare services.

She said this on Saturday at Mbewa, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kawere in Mchinji during the opening of Nafuse Health Centre which Our Aim Foundation constructed.

Daud said the opening of the facility symbolises collective efforts to bring healthcare, hope and opportunity to people of Mbewa and surrounding areas.

She said: “As the government, we recognise the critical role that organisations such as Our Aim Foundation play in driving sustainable development.

“We are committed to fostering an environment that supports these partnerships, ensuring that together we can deliver lasting change for the benefit of our people.

“We are doing everything possible to collaborate with such organisations to maximise their impact and improve quality of life for all Malawians.”

She encouraged communities to take care of the facility.

“This facility belongs to you. It is a vital resource for everyone in this community. Together we must ensure that it is cared for and maintained,” said Daud.

T/A Kawere said the facility will improve access to healthcare services in the area.

“The nearest health facilities are too far for people, especially women with babies,” he said.

Our Aim Foundation president Nisha Mandani said they constructed the facility after noticing that women were travelling long distances to health facilities.

“The closest health facility is 30 kilometres away,” he said.

The facility will offer services such as antenatal, immunisation and check-ups.

Our Aim Foundation is a non-profit organisation that has been assisting communities living in multi-generational poverty across countries in South Asia, Africa as well as regions in the United States of America for the past 15 years
