Miss Malawi auditions gaining momentum
The organisers of the Miss Malawi beauty pageant have said auditions to shortlist potential contestants are gaining momentum with many girls turning up.
The auditions, which took place on Saturday in Lilongwe, saw girls from different backgrounds taking part, trying their luck to grab next year’s crown of Miss Malawi.
Speaking in an interview, spokesperson of the organising commitee, Africano Phiri, said as organisers, they are happy with how things are turning out so far.
He said: “The response is overwhelming and this year promises to show Malawians an intense competition as many girls are coming out to contest. This assures us as organisers that the contest will be full of variety and value.”
According to Phiri, so far there is a good flow of things as everything is progressing to their satisfaction.
The organisation of Miss Malawi beauty pageant was jointly taken over by media giants Nation Publications Limited (NPL) and Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS)after years of inactivity. The debut event organised by the two institutions was held earlier this year and saw the winner Cecilia Khofi driving home a Nissan Tiida saloon vehicle, amongst other prizes.
The auditions move to Mzuzu on October 7 at Grand Palace Hotel and then in Blantyre on October 14. n
