Miss Malawi Cape Town organisers promise more

Nyasa Events, who hosted a successful Miss Malawi Cape Town event at Camps Bay High in Cape Town, South Africa on Boxing Day, have promised more goodies in subsequent events.

miss-malawi-cape-townNyasa Events director Thoko Kuwali told The Nation from South Africa that the inaugural event was so successful that it has given his firm an impetus to forge ahead.

“All the contestants were of Malawian origin and the event was welcomed by Malawians living in Cape Town. Since the event was launched successfully, we have decided that it is going to be an annual event,” he said.

According to Kuwali, the thought of organising the Miss Malawi Cape Town event came about when he realised the need to promote Malawian culture and tourism in Cape Town.

“With my passion in fashion and lifestyle, I came up with the Miss Malawi Cape Town pageant whose objective is to have Malawi fashion and lifestyle showcased in Cape Town,” he said.

Kuwali explained that the event is organised association with the Malawi Association in Cape Town, which is responsible for the welfare of Malawians there.

During the pageant, 24-year-old Chuma Kondowe from Nkhata Bay was crowned the first Miss Malawi Cape Town while Charmain Itimu, a 19-year-old from Machinga was voted first princess with Dalitso Mankhambera, a 25-year-old from Nkhata Bay in tow.
