Mulhako wa Alhomwe preps on course
Mulhako wa Alhomwe board chairperson Muchanakwaye Mpuluka said preparations for this year’s festival are progressing well.
The organisers held a preparatory meeting at Chonde in Mulanje on Sunday, where, among others, the team provided a progress report on the preparations and also making follow-ups on the pledge of contributions from different quarters.

Mpuluka said they are hopeful of pulling off a successful event despite the prevailing economic hardships in the country.
“As Lhomwes, this is our time to come together and show our unity and strength. We have all reasons to celebrate our tradition and culture. Let us give our best efforts to make the event memorable,” he said.
Mpuluka said above anything else, cultural events such as Mulhako wa Alhomwe helps in uniting people.
Organising committee chairperson Felix Tambulasi said contributions towards the festival have been trickling in slowly, but was optimistic of reaching the target soon. The budget of the event has been set at K280 million.
“For this event to be successful we will need the help of everyone. The contributions have been coming in slowly, but I hope by the end of this week people will have come forward to support the cause.” he said.
President Peter Mutharika, who is also patron of the cultural grouping, is expected to attend the event. The event this year will take place under the theme ‘Enduring spirit, overcoming challenges’.
