South African amapiano artist Musa Keys thrilled Illusionz Night Club in Lilongwe on Saturday during his first performance in Malawi.

Previously, on three separate occasions, the artist had announced that he would perform in Malawi, but failed to make an appearance. He attributed the situation to disagreements with promoters.

However, for his first ever show in Malawi, Keys set the stage on fire at Illusionz Night Club, delivering a performance that left both fans and organisers satisfied.

The evening started with the sounds of local artist Achina Gattah Ase setting the stage for what would be a night to remember for music lovers at the club.

As the clock struck midnight, anticipation reached its peak as fans eagerly awaited the arrival of the amapiano star.

He finally took to the stage, and quickly the atmosphere was filled with excitement as patrons left their seats to dance.

Despite initial doubts about his reception in Malawi, the South African artist was overwhelmed by the warm embrace of the audience.

The energy in the club was palpable as people danced and sang along to his beats. Assisted by his bassist, Musa Keys held the audience captive to a lively performance.

As the night came to a close following his one-hour set, Keys seamlessly transitioned into a DJ, adding a flavour to the night life at the club.

In an earlier interview, he said he was happy to finally be in Malawi for the performance.

“I’m super excited to be here because it hasn’t happened the previous couple of times that I was meant to be here,” he said, stressing that he was ready to deliver the best performance.

Illusionz Night Club director Martin Nyirenda in an interview expressed satisfaction, saying the artist had delivered to his customers expectations.

“As always, we aim to provide our customers with world-class entertainment as they enjoy the night life here at the club, and I’m satisfied Musa Keys delivered a good performance tonight and our customers are happy,” he said.

Going forward, Nyirenda said they are committed to promoting local artists and delivering exceptional experiences as people explore the night life in the city.

“Night life is also about music and dance. That is why we bring artists so patrons can have a different experience, and from time to time, we feature local artists as a way of promoting them.

“We also want Malawi to have more places that can stand out with international standards when it comes to the night life experience considering that our country is a tourist destination,” he said.
