NAM nullifies LDNC elections results

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has nullified results of the Lilongwe and Districts Netball Committee (LDNC) elections, The Nation has learnt.

NAM wrote Central Region Netball Committee (CRNC) chairperson Fanuel Katengeza on May 20 nullifying the May 19, 2013 election results.

The development came after the outgoing committee chairperson Bofina Makina and her general secretary Zachariah Kasakula complained to NAM over anomalies during the elections.

Both Makina and Kasakula failed to defend their positions at the elections.

The letter signed by NAM general secretary Carol Bapu, which The Nation has seen, reads in part: “We have found out that all the points raised by complainants [Kasakula and Makina] are true and reflect that the elections were not free and fair. We write to advise you that the elections have been nullified and will be conducted at a date to be communicated to you in due course.”
