NAM sets 4 targets for Queens coach

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has set four targets for prospective Malawi Queens full-time coach Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa.

NAM vice-president Chimwemwe Bakali said in an interview yesterday that the targets include guiding the Malawi National Netball Team back to the top six in World rankings and, at least, second on the continent.

He said: “We also expect her to come up with a clear transition structure with proper pathways.”

Bakali, who is also the association’s spokesperson, also said they expect Chawinga-Kaluwa to win the Africa Netball Cup at least once during the contract period.

Meanwhile, the NAM vice-president said they have offered the coach a two-year deal.

“Once the contract is signed, we will draw a roadmap as regards preparations for the 2023 Netball World Cup,” Bakali said.

On her part, Chawinga-Kaluwa confirmed having received the offer, saying she is still going through it.

“I need a bit of time to study the contents,” said the coach.

Chawinga-Kaluwa’s previous three-year contract with NAM expired at the end of August this year.

Her biggest task will be the Netball World Cup to be hosted by South Africa next year.
