Nanjati tunes up for Airtel finals

Nanjati CDSS stepped up a gear in their preparations for the Airtel Rising Stars finals when they played Blue Eagles in a friendly yesterday at Nankhaka.

Nanjati, who have been in camp for a week at Dzenza Secondary School, will face Joyce Banda Foundation (JBF) on Sunday at Lilongwe Technical College.

“On Tuesday, we beat Dzenza 6-0. We are in good shape and we will give Blue Eagles a good run. We will not make it easy for them. This is our chance to shine on the international stage,” said coach Innocent Kaundala before they lost 3-1 to Blue Eagles.

On Sunday, Nanjati will depend on their top goalscorer Tinkhani Nyirenda who has scored six goals in six games. His partnership with Juma Yatina has been lethal. Yatina has also scored six goals.

Their goalkeeper Umali Yasini has conceded one goal in the six matches.

While Nanjati’s preparations have been that promising, JBF’s have been problematic because most of their players were sitting Junior Certificate of Education examinations and only re-grouped yesterday.

“But we will not use that as an excuse. After all, I have no doubt that we will beat Nanjati,” said JBF coach Robert Munthali.
