Compassionate Ministry country director Chinsinsi Amos Phiri said the two boreholes were constructed with funding from Nazarene church members in United States of America.

“These communities were affected by cholera due to lack of clean water. That is why we came here and intervened by providing these boreholes. We noted that communities here had no clean water; hence, the cholera outbreak. We plan to drill about  five boreholes here in Kasungu to cut distances women and children travel to access clean water,” Phiri.said, adding that girls will now have enough time to study.

Speaking on behalf of the community at Chipanga in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwase, group village head Malema said his area experiences perennial water problems because there are no rivers.

“We thank the church for the boreholes. This area has over 800 households and we all depended on a single well. Women fight for water. Others fetch it from open untreated wells. But with these boreholes those water challenges are over,” said Malema.
