Mzuzu-based rising gospel musician Christopher Phiri says his new album titled Amayankha will help and comfort people through difficult situations.

In an interview, Phiri said the album will be launched officially on July 1 this year.

“It talks about hope. People should not lose heart when in difficult situations because God still listens to their prayers and will surely answer them; hence, the title Amayankha,” he said.

Phiri: I see a future in music

Phiri is a member of Mzuzu Living Waters Church praise team, but also backs several artists during live shows in Mzuzu.

He said such a music background is enough for him to venture into music as a ministry.

“It has been upon my heart to venture into music ministry apart from just backing other musicians,” he said.

He said his music has already found its way into various radio stations such as Mzuzu-based Voice of Livingstonia, Zodiak Broadcasting Station, Timveni and MBC.

“I see a future in music because people are buying my CDs and radio stations are playing my songs. This simply means my music is good,” he said.

The album has songs such as Chiyembekezo, Pemphero, YehovahM’busaWanga and Kwatha among others.

The album was recorded and produced at CF Studios by Freedom Munthali and Chifundo Mkandawire. n
