Find Your Feet has donated 10 bicycles to Karonga District Hospital to enable health surveillance assistants go to remote areas to deliver services.

Speaking on Friday during the handover, Find Your Feet Karonga district coordinator Prince Kayira encouraged health workers to reach everyone.

He said: “We noted that health surveillance assistants face mobility challenges to reach adolescent mothers living with HIV and others.

“Therefore, they should also utilise the bicycles during cholera and Covid-19 vaccination campaigns.”

Karonga district medical officer Lindani Chirwa said the donation came at the right time when they were struggling to take vaccines to remote areas.

“Although the bicycles are not enough for the district’s 192 health surveillance assistants, we will not have excuses if we fail to go to hard-to-reach areas,” he said.

Mbande Area Development Committee chairperson Fwasani Silungwe urged beneficiaries to take care of the bicycles.

With financial support from ViiV Health Care UK Limited, Find Your Feet is implementing a Building Resilience of Adolescent Mothers Living with HIV through Integration of Economic Strengthening Social Empowerment and Psychotherapy Interventions in the district.
