Lusubilo Community Care Organisation has launched its 2026-30 Strategic Plan to diversify its funding models due to donor fatigue to continue with its projects in Karonga District.
The organisation, which operates under Karonga Diocese of the Catholic Church, already implements projects in water, sanitation and hygiene, infrastructure, education and women empowerment, among others.
In his remarks during the launch of the strategic plan, Bishop Martin Mtumbuka of Karonga Diocese, said while they continue to implement projects to support vulnerable people in the community, collaboration and coordination with key stakeholders such as traditional leaders and council officials remain a priority.
“However, let me express my frustrations with some council officials who demand hefty allowances for visiting development sites. This is the work that you are employed for and it lacks justification to our donors,” he said.
On his part, Karonga district director of economic planning and development Gildrate Kavalo said councils are there to provide space for developments to complement the aspirations of District Development Plans to serve the community.
Senior Chief Kalonga commended the bishop for his development conscious spirit.
“Since 1997, Lusubilo Community Care Organisation has been a household name due to its charitable initiatives that have transformed the three districts of Chitipa, Karonga and Rumphi,” he said.
Lusubilo Community Care Organisation executive director Joseph Kimangila assured stakeholders and communities of his organisation’s continued support to orphans, vulnerable children, youths and adults in the lakeshore district.
