He said: “Basically, we targeted to raise K6 million for various activities that we undertake such as providing vaccinations, education programmes on anima l welfare and also donkey clinics across the country. So, what we have raised here we will put back into the community.

“This year, we have seen a good turnout, almost double as compared to last year.”

The event saw G4S Security donating K1 million and some partners contributing up to K200 000 towards the cause.

G4S head of sales and business development Richard Malamulo said they were motivated to sponsor the event because of shared values.

He said: “We share a common goal of creating a community that values the welfare of animals.

“We would like to encourage other players that deal in guard dogs to sponsor such events.”

Alan Walsch, whose dog Ella was the winner in the female category, described the event as full of fun.

“Last year, we were out of the country, but this year I wanted to bring the dog and socialise,” said Walsch, who is from Germany.
