Nico Group hails Queens’ C’wealth performance
Nico Group, official sponsors of the Malawi Queens, have expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
The Malawi National Netball Team finished seventh at the Games where they won three and lost a similar number of matches.

In a statement after welcoming the team at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe yesterday, the conglomerate described the team’s performance as a clear demonstration that the rebuilding project is yielding positive results and laying a strong foundation for future international success.
Reads the statement: “Competing against some of the world’s highest-ranked netball nations, the Queens displayed courage, resilience and remarkable growth throughout the tournament.
“With every match, the team produced increasingly disciplined performances, demonstrating tactical maturity, greater cohesion and an unwavering fighting spirit that earned admiration from supporters and opponents alike.”
The group’s head of corporate affairs Mbumba Mlia-Ndasauka said the performances had reinforced confidence in the long-term vision behind the partnership with the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM).
She said: “We are immensely proud of the Malawi Queens. Throughout the Games, they represented our nation with dignity, passion and determination. Every performance reflected the progress that has been made through the rebuilding programme.”
NAM president Vitumbiko Gubuduza, who accompanied the team, commended the Queens for giving out their best and Bio Group for their support.
She said: “I am proud of the Malawi Queens’ overall performance. Achieving our target of a top-seven finish is a significant accomplishment and reflects the hard work, discipline and commitment that went into preparing this team.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to our principal sponsor, Nico Group, for its generous support in financing the team’s local training camp, player allowances and the entire training camp in Manchester.”
