Kamuzu Stadium authorities have barred Mighty Wanderers from using the facility following the violence that occurred during and after their Super League match against Blue Eagles last Saturday.

Some fans went on rampage to destroy items such as water pipes, slabs and windows and it is alleged that the violence was triggered by Nomads fans in protest against officiation.

“Last time, they also did the same thing and despite admitting to have caused the violence, they did not repair the damaged items.

“This time around, five water taps were removed, a window in the visiting team’s dressing room was broken and some concrete slabs which they used as missiles towards match officials, were damaged.

“So, unless they pay for the damages, we will not allow them to play at the stadium,” said stadium manager Charles Mhango.

The development has forced Sulom to revise some Super League games and the Nomads will host Kamuzu Barracks (KB) at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo on Monday while the match between Blantyre United and KB has been shifted to Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

But Nomads general secretary David Kanyenda said it was premature to comment because his team has not been charged yet.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said the disciplinary committee was expected to convene yesterday.

Meanwhile, Big Bullets have said they are bitter with Sulom’s move to turn down their request to postpone their game against Red Lions in Zomba on Monday.

Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire said Sulom was supposed to postpone their game because they have contributed six players to the national team that will face Mozambique today.

“We find Sulom’s response to be unfair because even if the national team is supposed to play on Saturday, the players will have little time to rest as they will play again on Monday,” said Mkandawire.
