Nomads tip Bullets, Silver on CAF tourneys

TNM Super League defending champions Be Forward Wanderers have extended best wishes to Malawi’s CAF inter-club competitions’ representatives Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers.

Bullets face Gor Mahia of Kenya in the preliminary round first leg-tie of the CAF Champions League on Wednesday while the Bankers date Gabonese side A.O CMS on the same day.

A statement signed by Nomads general secretary Mike Butao reads in part: “We would like to wish Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets all the best as they represent the nation in this year’s CAF tournaments.”

Butao: We wish them well

The Nomads have since urged the two teams to get good results away “because that helps in the home game both in terms of maximising chances of proceeding to the next round and ensuring high patronage in the return match”.

“You are our ambassadors and we wish you well and we are behind you all the way,” the statement further reads.

Bullets director Albert Chigoga said they are flattered by Nomads gesture.

“Coming from our rivals, it is a source of inspiration and encouragement. It demonstrates the good working relationship that we have with them and the spirit of patriotism. That should be the way to go,” he said.

Chigoga also said they take Nomads’ advice to try and get a positive result away seriously.

The Nomads took part in the last edition of the Champions League and were eliminated in the preliminary round by AS Vita from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) 6-1 on aggregate. n
