Nsanje launches projects to improve service delivery
Nsanje district director of public works Danstain Mphonde says the council is launching projects to improve service delivery in the district.
He said this on Saturday when the council handed over projects under the 2024/25 financial year to contractors.
The projects are under Governance to Enable Service Delivery (Gesd) and District Development Fund (DDF)

During the event at Traditional Authority Mlolo, Mphonde said the council will maintain high standards in its infrastructure development.
“We want to build infrastructure that will last. The council will not tolerate shortcuts,” he said.
Mphonde also appealed to communities to take the lead in the implementation of the projects.
Nsanje District Council chairperson Cassim Ngwali advised people to own the projects.
“Sometimes contractors implement poor projects because people are not monitoring the projects. Let us work with contractors to ensure that our projects are of high quality,” he added.
Ngwali also advised contractors to finish construction works within their timeframe.
Senior Chief Mlolo hailed the council for responding to calls from the community to construct Kalulu Police Unit in her area.
The projects include a staff house at Alufandika Community Day Secondary School, Chididi Police Unit administration block and staff toilets and a borehole at Kalulu Police Unit.
The council will also construct Zibhawe Junior Primary School and two staff houses as well as a solar-powered water reticulation system.
The projects are expected to be completed within three months.
