Ntcheu DC hails World Vision water project

Ntcheu district commissioner Francis Matewere has commended World Vision Malawi for constructing and repairing boreholes in the district.

He said this on Monday in Liwonde, Machinga District during the opening of a G462 Charity Water Project expected to drill 40 boreholes and repair 12 boreholes in Traditional Authority (T/A) Njolomole in the district.

“We have many priorities in our District Development Plan and one of them is water development, which World Vision Malawi has addressed in their project and will continue in the new one,” he said.

Matewere said the council alone cannot achieve its development plans and urged other partners to emulate the example set by World Vision Malawi.

The organisation’s Charity Water Project manager Liddah Manyozo said G462 is a one-year project seeking to address water, sanitation and hygiene challenges in the district.

“Unlike in the implementation of the previous G402 project, the current project will engage consultants in all construction works, except the rehabilitation of boreholes,” she said.

Meanwhile, T/A Njolomole has commended the project for coming back in his area, saying water remains crucial towards achieving sanitation and hygiene.

World Vision Malawi launched the project in T/As Njolomole, Ganya and Chakhumbira in 2021 to protect under-five children from infections and diseases.
