All is set for Chitheka Family gospel group vocalist Nyaradzai Chitheka-Dube to launch her solo project with 40 aspirants expected to be auditioned for her music ministry, Nyasa Praise Music.

The auditions are set to be held on Saturday at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe before a panel of judges comprising renowned musicians from 1pm.

A total of 15 individuals will be selected for the project.

Nyaradzai said the response from aspiring musicians to join her music ministry has been overwhelming.

Nyaradzai: We are set

“It is overwhelming as I have people from Blantyre and Mzuzu as well interested in the project. I feel sad because we limited ourselves to Lilongwe but in future we are hoping to take it throughout the country,” she said.

But Nyaradzai could not reveal the identity of the panelists,  saying revealing them could compromise the results.

“We are set and we have renowned people in music to carry out the auditions but they will be unveiled right at the show,” she said.

“We can’t disclose them now because it’s like we are giving away our plans.”

She said apart from performing both locally and internationally, the group will also be involved in studio productions for jingles and road shows, among others.

Her Facebook post two months ago seeking interested individuals to come for auditions got a positive response.

“I like it but the problem is I am not a resident of Lilongwe,” Justin Kazule, an aspirant, wrote.

Another message from Ruth Nderezina applauded Nyaradzai for the initiative, saying:” You are doing great sister, May God continue blessing you.”

Nyaradzai became a vocalist while with Chitheka Family leading on the group’s hit song Musiyeni Mulungu.

She has two solo albums Mboni Yeniyeni and Wamayankho to be released soon.
