OG Issa League minnows vow to surprise Tigresses

Minnows Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters have vowed to subject Tigresses to torture and defeat during their meeting in the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) tomorrow at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).

Tasaukadala general secretary Kelton Gondwe said yesterday that they would like to beat the last year’s OG Issa League runners-up to consolidate their second position on the log table where they have 15 points from eight matches.

They will drop to position three if they lose to Tigresses, who are on third position on 12 points.

“Of course, it will be our toughest game ever, but we are going to surprise them. This is our first year to take part in the competition, but we are already on position two. This shows that we are a team that needs not to be underrated. In fact, our target is to win the title this year,” said Gondwe.

But Tigresses coach Charles Mhango laughed off the challenge, saying it will be a big joke to lose to minnows with a full squad consisting stars such as Sindi Simtowe, Beatrice Mpinganjira and Grace Mhango.

“Our aim this year is to complete our fixtures without a loss. So, when a team like that one comes with such a daring challenge, you wonder where their confidence is coming from,” said Mhango.

According to SRNL general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie, Tigresses will tomorrow first take on ninth-placed Aquaid Queens at 9am before facing Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters at noon.

Woget Stars and Prison Sisters will met at the same venue at 10.30am.

On Sunday, Airwing Sisters and Triggers Sisters will meet at Cobbe in Zomba while Glass Bank Sisters will travel to Mulanje to face Chitakale Sisters.
