Onesimus in ‘Home Coming’ concert

East or west, home remains the best. The saying has proved true for South Africa-based Malawian Afro-pop singer Onesimus.

After making strides in the rainbow nation in the last few years, he has announced a home coming concert scheduled for September 25 at Lilongwe Golf Club.  His last show in Malawi was held seven years ago.

Onesimus: I am grateful

“This is going to be one of the most memorable moments for me and my fans. It has been a long time. It feels good to have the opportunity to come back home and connect with my fans on stage. My music is diverse and accommodative, so this will be an open event to anyone,” said the artist.

Onesimus, born Sopani Kalua, left in 2013 for South Africa where he is currently signed under a South African music label Muthaland Entertainment. Over the years, he has established footprints in the Sourthern Africa Development Community region with his music exploits.

Apart from performing in countries such as Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Zambia, he has also worked with some of the continent’s big names such as Nigerian star Tekno on the song Foyu. He has also recently collaborated with South African Vusi Nova on the song Maria.

Onesimus said: “To be where I am, it has been down to the support that my fans at home and elsewhere have given me all these years. I am grateful to them and this performance will be a thank you to them. They should expect fireworks on the day.”

According to a press release from his local management team, supporting headliners will be announced in due course. The gate charges for the show dubbed Onesimus Pakwawo are pegged at K2 000.
