Opportunity Bank of Malawi (OBM) has announced formation of sports teams that will compete at regional and national level as a way of interacting with customers.

The development comes weeks after the bank participated for the first time in sports activities during the Bankers Sports Day held on June 14 at St Andrews International grounds in Blantyre.

Opportunity Bank like any other invited bank participated in football, basketball, netball, 100-metre race, bawo and chess.

The bank finished third in basketball and first in football.

“Currently, we are forming regional teams and we want to ensure that they are active. We want to combine them during national tournaments,” said Chiukepo Lungu, the bank’s marketing officer.

Lungu said they will have disciplines such as football, volleyball, netball and basketball.

He said they will support each region to participate in competitive regional tournaments.
