Opposition hail APM,Chakwera relationship
Leader of Opposition in Parliament Simplex Chithyola- Banda has commended President Peter Mutharika for approving former president Lazarus Chakwera’s trip to Tanzania to facilitate peace mediations.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday, he said the fact that the two leaders are able to talk and agree on things shows that they are peace-loving people.

Chithyola-Banda said the relationship they have demonstrated by the two leaders is a sign that Malawians are one and that the nation can champion peace in other countries, urging government to give Chakwera the necessary support to travel to Tanzania for the peace talks.
He said: “There is need to expedite the logistical arrangements so that the former president travels on time for the talks as delays will affect process of facilitating peace.
“We have been in consultation with the leadership from government and I hope government will finalise all the logistical arrangements for the former president to travel to Tanzania.”
Chithyola-Banda said Chakwera’s appointment by the Commonwealth also shows that Malawi is globally recognised as a peaceful country that can help promote peace in other countries.
Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Esther Jolobala also commended Mutharika for giving a blessing to Chakwera to travel to Tanzania on the assignment.
Leader of the House Jappie Mhango said government will provide the needed resources for Chakwera.
“His Excellency the President being a statesman believes in inclusivity and, every available resource that can be used to assist anywhere else,” he said.
Tanzania has been experiencing post-election conflicts and the Commonwealth appointed Chakwera to lead a delegation in peace talks in the neighbouring country.
