Lucky Penemulungu outsmarted a field of 80 golfers on Saturday at the Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) to win the CDH Investment Bank Golf tournament.

Penemulungu scored 42 points ahead of Kasungu-based golfer Ali Lazarous on 38 points and lieutenant general John Msonthi Jnr came third.

Penemulungu got Trojan gym equipment as his prize.

In the ladies category, it was Blantyre-based golfer Suzan Makin who carried the day with 38 points. Another Blantyre golfer Elizabeth Tench was second with 37 points. Makin received a Trojani excerse bike as her reward.

In his speech, Penemulungu said: “Today, I had a brilliant game and I never looked back, but kept my focus. It feels great to win after trying so much. I think I deserve it,” he said.

Penemulungu also thanked CDH for the golf and pledged to invest in the bank.

Mäkin was equally ecstatic at her victory.

“I had a wonderful time and I feel happy to have won, “she said.

CDH Investment Bank chief executive officer Mischeck Esau thanked golfers for patronising the tournament in their large numbers.

“We are excited to be here in Lilongwe. We have a growing market in Lilongwe and this is one way of interacting with our customers. We are a rapidly growing bank focused on making your business grow. I ask you to try our services,” said Esau.

Esau donated K150 000 (about $394) towards maintenance of LGC course.

LGC captain Justice Ken Manda thanked CDH for the golf and also for the donation.
