Local urban musician Piksy will start his 2019 engagements with a show tomorrow at Lilongwe’s new entertainment joint Rock City.
The show has been dubbed ‘Awards Celebration Concert’ and it follows Piksy’s success at the recent UMP Music Awards where he won a double, going home with the Artist of the Year and Song of the Year awards.
Piksy said: “This is a ‘thank you’ show to my fans who voted for me to win the two awards. I would like them to join me in celebrating the success I registered last year and to ask them to continue supporting me like they did last year.”
Rock City, which has only been operational for about three weeks, has hosted a number of top Malawian acts, including guitar wizard Lulu and Jazz maestro Erik Paliani.
Now the attention turns to the Unamata hit-maker who will seek to maintain the standards set by his colleagues.
Louis Jana, who manages Rock City said: “It is our honour to host such a talented artist who has consistently produced hits in the past 10 years. Our equipment is top-notch, the stage is of high standard and the ambience of the venue is both relaxing and stimulating.”
Piksy has two solo studio albums Maso and Mthunzi and he is currently working on a new album, Mtunda, which will be released this year. n
