Presidential Initiative for Sports (PIS) table tennis starts this Saturday in Blantyre, Balaka, Zomba, Lilongwe, Mchinji and Mzimba.

PIS table tennis information officer Charles Kasenda said registration for the K1 million (about $2 500) tournament was held between May 27 and June 2.

“Teams that will win in their respective districts will qualify for the regional phase which will be held before the national finals. This is an open competition,” he said.

Kasenda then urged players to observe rules of the competition, saying players who fail to do so will be punished.

He said the competition will be played on knockout basis.
