Police impound Fisp truck

malawi-policeMalawi police on Tuesday impounded a truck carrying 600 bags of Farm Input Subsidy Programme (Fisp) fertiliser in Blantyre.

Police impounded the vehicle and arrested its driver at Chapasuka Village near Zalewa Police Roadblock where they allegedly found people packaging the fertiliser from their original brown 50 kilogramme (kg) bags into white 40 kg bags.

Southern Region Police spokesperson Nicholas Gondwa said the police team was returning from a sweeping exercise in Mwanza.

He identified the truck registration NU 6442 as belonging to Mogra Transport. It was reportedly on its way from Beira Port in Mozambique to Export Trading at Makhetha in Blantyre.
