Premier Bet pumps K260m into Super League

 Super League of Malawi is closing in on K1 billion sponsorship target for the top-flight football league, having secured a K260 million partnership deal with Premier Bet.

The flagship football league-runners already got an assurance of K450 million from main sponsors TNM plc for the forthcoming season.

The betting firm’s sponsorship was unveiled during Sulom’s dinner and dance at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on Saturday.

From the package, K160 million will be channelled towards the clubs with each getting K10 million, K1. 8 million will go towards Coach of the Month with the winner pocketing K200 000.

Player of the month will also be getting K200 000, translating to another K1.8 million while K9.9 million will go towards Team of the Month with the winning team getting K1.1 million.

There is also a K100 000 prize for the Journalist of the Month and a provision of uniforms with optional branding.

A representative of Premier Bet Daniel Fatch said they have partnered Sulom to promote football in the country.

Sulom president Colonel Gilbert Mittawa hailed Premier Bet for the partnership and assured the company that it will get value for its investment.

“We are excited to welcome Premier Bet to the elite domestic football family. This is a big step towards rebranding, reforming and reviving the league,” he said.

Business magnate and philanthropist Thomson Mpinganjira, who was the guest of honour, thanked Premier Bet for the sponsorship.

He said: “In a special way, let me make special mention of Premier Bet, well done.

“K260 million is not small, if we could have three, four, five other companies like them, then it would mean we are beginning to make strides towards improving football in Malawi.”
