Queens, Under-21 squads named

Names of players that will battle for places in the Malawi Senior Netball Queens and the Under-21 national team in preparation for the June 24 African Netball Association (ANA) Championships in Blantyre have been released.

But their coaches are yet to be identified.

“The girls will go into camp on June 5 and we will announce the coaches of the two sides after after an executive meeting on June 4,” Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general secretary Carol Bapu.

The senior Queens’ squad has no new face, but the junior side has at least eight newcomers.

According to NAM president Rosy Chinunda, towering shooter Mwawi Kumwenda is expected to join the squad later.

The Under-21 squad comprises Memory Mwazani, Martha Dambo, Liana Mtenje and Shirat Kaiche (MTL Queens); Colleta Mwalilimo, Beauty Nyasulu and Aisha Ali (Civonets); Alinafe Kamwala and Sheila Dimba (Escom Sisters); Mary Banya and Takondwa Luwazi (Blue Eagles Sisters); Maureen Munthali and Catherine Yikwanga (Bingu Tigresses).

Also in the squad are Hilda Chimtengo and Happiness Soko (Lameck Queens); Chinansi Bande (Glass Bank Sisters); Olinesi Beza (Mzuzu Queens); Esther Chiwale (Chauka Sisters); Mervis Kayange (Blue Bird Sisters); Deliwe Lungu (ABC Sisters) and a shooter from Mafco Sisters.
