Southern Region Women Football Committee (SRWFC) has been dealt a big blow following the death of its treasurer Mary Kadokera yesterday.

Kadokera, who was the SRWFC’s treasurer for eight years, died at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital after suffering a liver failure.

“She had been complaining about pain in her stomach for the past three weeks. When we took her to the hospital on Saturday, the doctor said her liver had a tumor which developed to an uncontrollable level.

“This is a big loss not only to SRWFC, but to the entire women football fraternity in the country. It will be difficult to find a replacement,” said SRWFC general secretary Immaculate Chiwaya.

Kadokera, who was a teacher at Chimwankhunda Primary School, was born on February 10 1969. She is survived by two children after the loss of her husband in 2000.

Her body will be taken from her residence in Ndirande Township today for burial at her home in Nyungwe, Karonga.
