MBC Radio 2 celebrated its 18 years of existence with a series of events in Blantyre on Friday.

The initial corporate celebrations took place at the Broadcasting House at Chichiri in the afternoon before the party moved to Mustang Sally where a host of the station’s DJs and musicians entertained patrons with performances.

Speaking during the Mustang Sally party, MBC Radio 2 presenter Frank Kandu said the celebrations were part of the station’s desire to interact with their listeners.

“In the morning, we had the first segment of our celebrations with our management. So, tonight we have to come to the people that listen to our radio so that we can mingle and have fun,” he said.

According to Kandu, the radio presenters had, earlier in the day, donated blood to Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) before hosting students from Chichiri and Blantyre escondary schools.

Some of the performers during the Mustang Sally event included MBC Radio 2 presenters Diktator and Saint plus producers-cum-musician siblings Daredevils.

MBC Radio 2 went live on air on July 17 1997. n
