Reunion Insurance Company Limited has given K5 million to Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must) for the organisation of its golf tournament later this month.
The tournament is aimed at raising money for students who are on the verge of withdrawing from the university.

Speaking in Blantyre on Thursday during the handover of the cheque, Reunion Insurance technical manager responsible for claims and business development Hastings Kapesa said the initiative by Must is in line with the company’s strategic pillars.
“Reunion Insurance will continue to support various activities at the university, including an annual tree planting initiative and girl science campaign in which the company’s chief executive officer Dr Dorothy Chapeyama is one of the mentors,” he said.
Must registrar Alfred Chinombo thanked Reunion Insurance for the sponsorship.
He said Must plans raise about K250 million through the golf tournament.
He said: “As a university, our aim is to ensure that no student withdraws from campus due to fees.
“We know there are other initiatives by government and other private sector players to support needy students, but still we have some that are not covered by such initiatives.”
The golf tournament is scheduled for September 16 at Blantyre Sports Club and the guest of honor is expected to be Vice-President Saulos Chilima.
Reunion Insurance is a bronze sponsor for the tournament.
