Reverend Nyasulu is General Assembly moderator

Reverend Dr Timothy Nyasulu of the Livingstonia Synod is now moderator of the CCAP General Assembly following elections held at Lundazi in Zambia from December 13-15.

Nyasulu was elected to replace Reverend Dr Felix Chingota who held the position since 2007.

The meeting also elected Reverend Collin M’bawa of the Blantyre CCAP Synod as secretary general of the General Assembly.

All the five synods that make up the General Assembly attended the meeting.

General Secretary of the Blantyre CCAP Synod Reverend Alex Maulana, who also attended the indaba, said apart from the elections, delegates discussed and adopted the proposal to turn the Zomba Theological College into a public university.

He said the meeting also set up the Constitutional Review Committee which will deal with the issue of boundaries among synods.

“The committee, which is comprised of moderators, general secretaries and two church elders from each of the five synods, was formed to oversee the issue of boundaries, with Livingstonia and Nkhoma synods as a case study.

“It was a nice meeting because all resolutions were adopted without interruptions and everything went on smoothly,” said Maulana.
