Chakwera said those who made it through after the rigorous process of selection would be given a platform for exposure.

“These are young people who do not have a chance to expose their raw talent,” she said.

She also appealed to the successful aspirants to work hard to meet the expectations of the music project having been judged on presentation, voice projection, songs, confidence, emotions and lyrics.

“What we have now is like unprocessed data which has to be worked on through mentorship and voice coaching,” she added.

in her remarks, Nyaradzai said the chosen ones would be sharpened to take music as a professional career.

“Gospel music is serious business which can help you support your children and families. Gospel musicians should be able to be roped in as brand ambassadors for corporate institutions,” she said.

On her part,  Nyaradzai appealed to individuals and companies to promote music through such initiatives.

One of the winners, Flora Chikakula, a nursing student at Nkhoma College of Health Sciences, said she now has an opportunity to improve  her talent.

“I have always wanted to be a singer in a group and this has provided me an opportunity to minister to God through music,” she said.

Sydrick Machezo, a second year Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources Food and Nutrition Science student said he was excited to have made it.

The initiative was financially supported by Nyaradzai’s husband, Pastor Kumwenda Dube, who is also a businessperson.n
