RVG calls 4 more players

Flames coach Ronny van Geneugden (RVG) yesterday called four more players to join the squad which is in camp ahead of the six nations tournament to be held in Morocco from August 31.

But by close of business, the Belgian coach also dropped four others from the squad.

In Flames camp: Mkwate

According to team manager James Sangala, the four called are defender Miracle Gabeya (Nyasa Big Bullets), midfielders Innocent Mwamulima (Red Lions) and Mike Mkwate (Nyasa Big Bullets) and striker Ibrahim Sadik (Blantyre United).

But after yesterday’s training session, the coach sent back Mwamulima, Innocent Tanganyika, Sadiki and Matthews Sibale.

Meanwhile, five Wanderers players—goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa, defenders Stanley Sanudi, Yamikani Chester and Teddy Sumani and striker Jabulani Linje— also joined the camp yesterday.

Sangala said players whose teams will play in the Carlsberg Cup semi-finals at the weekend will be released today.

RVG said the six nations tournament will help him and his backroom staff to build up on the team’s performance in the opening 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Comoros as well as the Cosafa Cup.

Other teams expected to take part in the tournament are hosts Morocco, Togo, Niger, Mauritania and Kenya.
