Scorchers replicas sold out
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says 500 limited-edition Scorchers Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) replica jerseys have sold out.
FAM commercial and marketing manager Mayamiko Kafwamba yesterday attributed the strong sales to the Scorchers’ impressive performance at the Wafcon finals in Morocco.

Malawi made a dream start to the tournament by defeating 10-time champions and holders Nigeria’s Super Falcons 3-2 in one of the biggest upsets in the competition’s history.
Kafwamba said although demand for the replicas remains high, FAM will not increase the stock because delivery timelines would make it impractical.
He said: “The replica were specifically for Wafcon tournament. That’s why they are limited edition. To reorder them will mean they will arrive in the country August month end or early September after the tournament has concluded.”
FAM unveiled and auctioned the Scorchers’ Wafcon limited-edition jersey during the team’s send-off and fundraising dinner held on July 10 at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The National Women’s Football Team’s corporate sponsor, National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc, purchased 150 replicas to boost the team’s morale and reward the bank’s customers.
The Scorchers will conclude their Group C campaign against neighbours Zambia on August 5 at Al Madina Stadium.
