Will be on trials for a week: Kabzere

He said: “Over the last two years, Rose has continued to break new ground in Malawian women’s football. Technically, she is in a class of her own in Malawi.

“This training placement aims to both challenge and inspire her to keep pushing towards her goal of playing professionally on the global stage.

“We have several training placements in the pipeline, some in Africa, others in Europe for our most promising players at Ascent Soccer.”

Ascent Academy Girls FC coach Thom Mkorongo encouraged the striker to work hard during the trials.

He said: “This is an opportunity for her to realise her dream.”

Kabzere, who scored 21 goals in Ascent Soccer Girls’s maiden Central Region Women’s Football League title win, last year earned her Scorchers debut at at 2022 Cosafa Women’s Championship.

She also won the Golden Boot at the Region 5 Youth Games which doubled asCosafa Under-17 Championship in December last year.

Under Fifa guidelines on minors, players cannot move internationally until they are 18 years old.

Since Kabzere is 16, if successful at Sundowns, she will have to wait until she turns 18 before she can sign a professional contract.
